After Action Review for My Drive Up

1. At the Malaysian Custom at Tuas, there is a D1 gate. If you are not using it, then you are using the F1 gate. If drive up via Tuas instead of Woodlands, 1 additional toll of RM$7 will be charged.

2. Being a new highway at Tuas, there is only one sophisticated camera to capture high speed. Remain at 110km/h, at most 120km/h.

3. Myvi can run very fast if driven by Tudong Macik.

4. Hebe is still very quiet at 130km/h. After that, everything vibrates and she is very noisy. 17 inch tyre already not very comfortable. I will not get 18 inch rims. Anyway, I change my 4 tyres already. 215/55/17 to 225/50/17. All-weather tyre for better grip and is the premium grade for a not so well known brand, Maxxis and not the F1 Goodyear asymmetric tyres. It is like, do you want a Mercedes C class or a Volkswagen Passat cc?

5. Strutbar by UltraRacing makes Hebe's handling better. Psychological effect since I spend some money on it. Will enhance it further with the undercarriage struts bar when I have more money.

6. Hebe is not really thirsty on highway. 200km using 19 liters. 11.1 km per litre of v-power. According to hearsay, clearing the meter, 180km/h for Hebe's case, is like de-carbonising the engine. Now my engine is very clean. I hope so.

7. I regret not using Moju to drive up to know the difference between Hebe and Moju. I am looking forward for the next drive up.

Losing Sight

I felt low.
Am task to do work which I believed was useless.
Am doing work unproductively.
Am doing work which is not value adding.
Am doing work but no one feels it.
Burdened and dragged by lazy and selfish people.

Yesterday, one of my boys ORD.
He was from China. He can not speak English properly.
He was always being mocked at for his English during his stay here, making him very low in self esteem. He is very diligent. He is willing to learn. He is positive. He never gives excuses for any mistakes and faults. Unlike the mockers. We were friends.

On the last day of his work, he needs someone to talk to. But I was busying the non constructive but compulsory work. He requested to play Chinese Chess with me, I say no time. He wanted to talk to me but I just say no time.

For the past one year of his service, I always thought there were more than enough time to speak to him, so I will only communicate with him when I have the free time. Until yesterday, he came to my office and bid me farewell as it was his last day. I realised I could have given him more attention when he says , thank you for taking care of him and goodbye.

I should have put in this meaningful effort.
Rather than focusing energy on meeting KPI or expectation and contributing to the unappreciative bunch.

We spend too much time on things/people that/who don't deserve it.

Detailed expenses for Golf

I looked through the SMS between me and my coach. I realised I have only learned golf for 2 months. I thought I have learnt golf for 3 or 4 months already. My first lesson was on 9 September 2011. I was late for lesson. I was dragging my feet to the driving range.

For this couple of two months I spent like crazy on golf.
The course fee was $567. My clubs which includes, the irons, putter, wood and driver cost me $1359.
The accessories including Taylormade Sunday bag, Cleveland Towel, rubber tee, soft shoes spikes and tightener and most unexpectedly, Sunblock cost $201.30 in total. The golf apparels which are not very fashionable but comfortable is $416. They are a Titleist cap, 2 P&G polo tee, FJ socks, gloves, belt, FJ shoes, adidas and nike berms.

The range cards for Warren country club, Orchid country club, Sembawang country club and Executive Driving range cost me $25, $25, $125,  $250.50 respectively. I spend more money on Executive because I started there and the people are friendly. They always give me pointers. They cost 5 cent per ball and 3.33 cents per ball during off peak. Sembawang and Orchid are very near my house. But Sembawang's off peak rate is 2 cents per ball during off peak that is why, I started to pump in money for that. Orchid cost a lot more.
In total I spend $425.50 on balls, and $160 of credits not spend yet. $260 worth of balls spent in two month.
So average out to $130 a month. As I am starting out so more enthusiastic, so more ball. I estimate I will only spend $50 a month on driving range for the next 3 - 4 months.

I have hit about 7000 balls for 2 months. I am impressed. I usually used 1 hour to hit 100 balls which is an under estimation. I have spend 70 hours on the course which is about 1 hour a day. No wonder one of the coach ask me why am I so free. Come to think of it, it is always possible to dig out 1 hour to do things if you want to.

Got to sleep already. Waking up very early tomorrow.

我的三分钟热度 and my spendings

In 2008, I learnt diving. All these years, I enjoyed the sport. Now I am rescue diver, it was partly driven by my career as a rescuer. However, the motivation of looking at the bluish coral was not really interesting lest I see them once/twice a year. The amount of money I spent on the hard ware - face  mask, wet suit, fins, booties, gloves, pointer,  dive bag, camera housing and sausage about $1000. This amount I thought was reasonable to invest on my annual hobby. To sustain the hobby, I need at least $500 for trips and my recent 3D2N trip cost $800.

In early 2009, I took up photography. Three years passed, there wasn't a single piece of great work. I managed to learn how the camera functions, they are things like shuttle speed, aperture, ISO sensitive, diffusion of lighting and focal length. I also have a decent understanding of how they affect the pictures. Read quite many books on it, the art of composition. Knowing all these, I was able to teach people with a new DSLR and what to look out for when taking pictures. Sony alpha 330 was my first buy and sold off at it a lost of $200.Subsequently, I bought Sony alpha 500- $850, Sigma 10-20mm- $820, SonyF1.4- $320, Sony 70-300mm- $200. Actually this amount spent should motivate me to take more pictures, until I realized photo taking 讲的是 being timely. iPhone is a better piece of equipment.

In 2010, I was I bought a car, had some dives and there was no $$$ to fund any 三分钟热度.

In May 2011, I bought k2 inline skates at $79. That is one of best thing I got. I can skate anytime I liked when my body feels too heavy for my legs to run. It accompanied me many of my days off. I clocked 10km per regime. Front wheels is wearing out already. Now I used it as a sport, no longer as a form of exercise, no longer a passion. Sometimes, I wonder why my passion for new hobbies are so short lived, is it I pick them up too fast? This cannot be the case because I fell down so many times so badly. I always channel all my energy in a particular activity for a period time to gain decent level of proficiency before thinking it is no fun.

Guess what I am learning now? Golf. Luckily there are many things to learn in golf, but this is not my 三分钟热度 because I am still putting hard work in it. But spendings can share. Who knows, one of the readers would be my golf club buyer.
Taylormade Burner 2.0 Graphite Irons, 4-9, SW and P - $849
Taylormade Superfast Driver - $189
Taylormade Fairway Wood 3-15 degree - $149
Odyssey White Ice Putter- $169
Taylormade Bag- $119
FootJoy Superlite golf shoe- $116

Leaping Horse

Last but not least, this is my latest masterpiece. Hope you can decipher that it is a horse, a bit of abstract, it art ma. I need to self learn mixing different shades of color. I want to paint a majestic lion next time.
